cafe medina

to celebrate being together for 10 years, the hubby and i drove up north of the border and spent the day in vancouver b.c.  i kind of make it my business to go through all the top yelp restaurants of the city whenever we travel.  this time, we landed in cafe medinaas you know, i loooooooooooooooooove brunch food, so when i heard waffles, i was sold!  even at 3pm, there was still about a 30 minute wait.  as a true and faithful yelper, i ordered off of the yelp popular items.  there was the white chocolate pistachio rosewater mocha, the milk chocolate lavender mocha, les boulettes (2 poached eggs, spicy moroccan meatballs, cilantro, hummus, and raita), a side of grilled focaccia, and of course, the famous waffle with 2 toppings: white chocolate pistachio rosewater (i love white chocolate!) and fig orange marmalade.  living in the coffee snob capitol, i was actually thoroughly impressed with the coffee.  the floral scent was not overpowering the coffee as i originally feared.  if anything, it almost neutralized the acidity of the coffee. it reminded me slightly of hong kong style coffee/tea.  i didn’t have much of the les boulettes because i was spending most of my valuable calorie intake on the waffle, but from the couple of bites i’ve had, the les boulettes was very flavorful, yet light.  i did have to end up wrestling the hubby for half of the focaccia bread because it was absolutely delicious!  it was so unbelievably fluffy.  the waffle was exactly how a waffle or any baked goods should be: crispy on the outside, soft in the inside.  i have had good waffles before, but what made theirs shine is definitely the toppings.  the fig orangage marmalade was sweet and tangy, while the white chocolate pistachio rosewater was creamy and smooth.  not only did the flavors complemented each other, the texture was also incredible.  the verdict?  i would TOTALLY come back and wait another 30+ minute in the cold on a saturday afternoon for cafe medina.  the food was completely worthy of the wait and as wonderful as their high rating.

omg ok so this totally doesn’t pertain to this post.. but OMG you have a bow bag too!?!?! ehhh!! we’re bag twinsies!!

i’m SO IN LOVE.. i’ve been using it for about 2 weeks since i got back.. and it’s already getting a little smooshy and i just LOVE IT!! and i super love that it’s so conveniant especially when i’m running errands and have to carry groceries… my first love will always be chanel….. but i think i’m totally starting a new love affair with miu miu hahahah.. which my husband is TOTALLY psyched about since it’s so much more “affordable” bahaha.

hahaha… of course he would. my hubby loves it too because i always make him carry my bag and he likes the long cross body straps. it’s more comfortable “for” him.

i bought mine 3 or 4 years ago and i still love it just as much to this day.
